Is My Fuel System Clogged?

Call Lonestar Elite Automotive if your car, truck, or UV is having any of the problems listed below. These problems are signs that the fuel injectors, the fuel hoses, or the fuel filter is clogged. Consequently, you do not have enough fuel in the engine to sustain combustion. Do not worry. We are the best auto shop in Fort Worth, and we would be happy to find the clog and replace the part.

Hard to Start

Of course, if there is not enough fuel in the engine to sustain combustion, there is not enough fuel in the engine to begin combustion. In other words, your vehicle will become very difficult to start. It’s best to bring the automobile to our shop the first time you have problems starting it. If you put the automotive service off, there may come a point when you cannot start the vehicle at all.

Misfiring Engine

As you are driving to our shop, you may notice that your car has the hiccups. This is the engine misfiring. If any of the fuel system parts mentioned above have plugs in them, you may not have enough fuel in each cylinder for that cylinder to fire. This is what misfiring means; some of the cylinders fire but not all of them. This reduces your engine’s power and performance.

Rough Idling

In fact, it will make the engine idle roughly. In severe cases, your idling engine may stall. We will talk more about that next. Again, you need to have each cylinder firing efficiently in order for your engine’s performance to be smooth. Otherwise, the engine will misfire and you will feel your automobile shake when you are sitting at an idle.

Stalling

We mentioned above that the engine might stall. If you’ve got a clog in the fuel system, the engine might stall immediately after you start the automobile. It may continue to stall every time you start it. Your engine may also stall when you’re idling, as we mentioned above. Finally, the engine could stall while you are driving.

Fuel Pump Damage

Unfortunately, the clog in the fuel system forces the fuel pump to work harder than it normally does. This can damage the fuel pump motor, and the fuel pump will start to make whining noises in the fuel tank. This may be your first clue that you have a clog in the fuel system.
